The Arrival of a Train
at La Ciotat (1896)
Directed by Auguste &
Louis Lumieres this is one of the earliest surviving short films. A
train pulls into a station.
There is not a lot too
this 50 second long film beyond a static shot of a train pulling into
a station. An urban legend states that this film terrified viewers on
it's first screening but it's pretty basic to modern viewers. As a
piece of historical record this is an important film, as a piece of
entertainment it's not anything to write home about.
