Eyes Without a Face
(1960)
Directed by Georges
Franju this film stars Pierre Brasseur, Edith Scob and Alida Valli. A
medical professor abandons ethics in attempts to get his daughter a
face transplant.
This should be a
pretty average b-movie but the solid direction elevates the film.
Showing how to achieve as much as possible on a limited budget this
film does an excellent job of hinting at rather than showing it's
more macabre elements. Stuck behind a mask for most of the film Edith
Scob gives a good performance as the haunted and haunting daughter of
the protagonist.
