Suspicion (1941)
Directed by Alfred
Hitchcock this film based on the novel “Before the Fact” stars
Joan Fontaine, Cary Grant, Sir Cedric Hardwicke and Nigel Bruce. A
young woman marries a man with a gambling addiction with money
problems.
The plot of this film
is very much the kind of thing you expect from a Hitchcock film,
ambiguity and suspense but it does take a little while for the plot
to get going. Inevitably the film strays slightly from the source
material due to studio concerns and the production code of the era
but this is still a really decent thriller. Maybe the film could have
been a little darker but in general it is well made as you would
expect from any Hitchcock piece.
4/5
