The Hindenburg (1975)
Directed by Robert
Wise this film loosely based on real events stars George C. Scott,
Anne Bancroft, William Atherton and Burgess Meredith. A German air
force intelligence officer hunts for a saboteur on the final flight
of the famous airship.
This film is an odd
mix of disaster film, true story and fictional conspiracy theory that
never really sits easily in any pigeon hole. Fictionalising nearly
everything about the plot detracts from the “true story” element
and the fictional plot itself is not really believable either. I
actually think the special effects are not too bad given the period
the film was made in and what it is trying to depict but otherwise
this is a fairly forgettable film.
