The Runner (2015)

by Austin Stark this film stars Nicolas Cage, Connie Nielsen, Peter
Fonda and Sarah Paulson. During the 2010 BP oil spill a Louisiana
politician who wants to help people but is also ambitious gets caught
up in a scandal.
Nicolas Cage taking on
a serious political drama is some what of a surprise and as you might
imagine is not a great fit. The plot of this film is not great as our
protagonist falls off the wagon multiple times before selling out his
soul in a story that does little to really explore the problems
Louisiana now faces. While the performances are not bad this is a
pretty weak effort.
