Don Jon (2013)
Written and directed
by star Joseph Gordon-Levitt this film also features Scarlett
Johnasson and Julianne Moore. The ultimate player with a porn
obsession becomes infatuated with the one girl that he can't get.
This film does a good
job of looking at the hyper masculine world that is focused
completely on objectifying women and manages not to get too heavy
handed with the moralising. I also like that while it is not the
focus of the film it is willing to point out the unrealistic
expectations on the other side of the coin too. Slick is probably the
best way to describe the execution of the film and is certainly has a
nice directorial style to it.
