La Haine (1995)
Written and directed
by Mathieu Kassovitz this film stars Vincent Cassel, Hubert Kounde
and Said Taghmaoui. Three friends living in a poor area of Paris
spend the day after a riot together.
This film does a
really good job of looking at the clash between poor immigrants and
French authority. While there might not be a lot that is
revolutionary about this story it frames the social problem well and
takes a balanced view. Some of the direction is slick and there is a
decent sound track as well.
