The Quiet Man (1952)
Directed by John Ford
this film based on a short story stars John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara and
Barry Fitzgerald. A man who left Ireland as a boy returns home to the
village he was born in and falls in love with a fiery young woman.
As with any John Ford
picture this film has it's fair share of nice landscape shots but
this time Ireland provides the back drop rather than America. The
plot of this film is not much to write home about and the story
provides a somewhat idealised version Ireland that likely never
existed. This was one of the first films made in Technicolor and some
of the image quality is not the greatest but is not bad enough to
inhibit watching the film.
